Meh, day.

Meh, day.

I’m not having the best of days. I feel agitated and irritated by almost everything today. Not sure why. Perhaps it’s the change of weather. I can’t be tired, I slept long and well last night. I’m not under any particular amount of stress from work… Just one of them days I suppose. Worked on the project I mentioned for the new client for a bit yesterday. Came up with this: Worked on two of my projects last night. Snoopy/Charlie Brown and “Bless this Nest” and WIP/UFO I found when going through my stash. Bless this Net is a seriously complicated little kit. Lots of fractionals, color changes, and specialty stitches. I think it’s going to be gorgeous when finished though! So, on Snoopy – I finished his body and started Charlie’s head: And this just about where “Bless this Nest” was at when I started- well it only had 14 half cross stitches – I forgot to snap a pic before my needle hit the aida!: And my ending point for the night: Won’t be able to get into stitch mode until much later tonight. Worked all day, and still have several things left on my plate before I can officially “relax”....
January is so crazy

January is so crazy

Haven’t gotten much time to relax once again the past few days. Tuesday and Thursday were my oldest two kids birthdays, and then yesterday we had a combined birthday party for them, and their cousin, who’s birthday was Friday. It was nice. Aside from my brother and his fiance and their son and my parents it was just my family. No one wanted to travel after the nasty snow we had yesterday. And, of course it’s snowing like crazy again today. I made the kids a “camo” cake. I wish I remembered to take a picture of the finished product, but of course I never do… This is the best I got – the finished cake had bright purple icing with purple, black, green and white sprinkles and “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate icing: Still have my husband’s birthday on the 29th. It’s been a month packed with birthdays! Got a call yesterday for working on a new site for someone. It should be a fairly quick project- one page, basic informational site, no complicated design elements. Gonna try to set up a demo site this afternoon or evening. Also got two other projects I need to wrap up. Well, one to wrap- one to start. But the one I need to start on is also minimal work, so I’m not very worried. Hopefully I can get all the tasks for that project wrapped up by tomorrow evening. In other news I finally got around to going to the craft stored in the next big town over. I had wanted to go becaue I saw rumors on the forums...

Stitching Database, new start

So, in all my excitement of my son’s birthday and finishing off “May All Your Days”, I managed to get a ton of work done yesterday. Today though is a tad bit on the slow side. I have got to send out some emails, and check up on two “bugs” on some sites we are doing maintenance on to see if I can trouble shoot and fix. Tomorrow I’ve got a conference call for a new project kick off. Have two more projects starting by the end of the month as well. Hopefully I be able to budget my time correctly so I can have at least an hour or two each night to keep up on my new projects. AND, I also decided to go through my stash yesterday. I really wanted to kind of take note of what I have so I can decide on future projects – and also take inventory so I don’t purchase something I already have. So, my idea was to take photos of what I had so I could later on write down the kit/pattern names. Well, I am quite shocked at myself. I knew I had a ton of kits. I knew it. I was a little ashamed of it. What I didn’t realize who how deep my stash really was. I have over 155 items. Most are kits. 😐 This isn’t even counting my magazine, fabrics and other stitch-y items. I’ll never in all my days be able to complete all of these! 😀 I sure can try though, can’t I? Hopefully one or both of my girls will be...
Happy 12th to my oldest AAAANNNDDDD Another Finish!

Happy 12th to my oldest AAAANNNDDDD Another Finish!

Today, my “baby” is 12 years old. I am out of my mind right now. 12 years ago on January 14th, 2002 my oldest son was born. All 8lbs 9oz of him. And today? He’s looks almost like a grown man. 5’6″, 150+lbs, mustache and beginning beard. I cannot believe this. My baby, who still calls me mommy, and  who is one of my best friends, is almost a teenager. I cannot believe this. It’s unfathomable. The way time passes is something I cannot comprehend. 🙁 I hope his day was wonderful and can’t wait for our entire family to gather for his (along with his sister and his cousin – three b-days in one week!) birthday party this weekend! And, in other news: After 14/15 years as a WIP to UFO to WIP to storage to WIP I finished “May Your Days”! I am so happy, and it looks even better than I imagined, even better than the little example photo shows on the package. Can’t wait to frame this. This is most definitely going somewhere in my home. There is so much emotion, time and history tied to this piece I could never give it away. This is literally the first “large” piece I worked on after graduated from little ornament sized items. I started this piece when I was 16 years old. Nearly 15 years ago now. At the time I lived in a group home with roughly 13/14 other kids from ages 11-17. Some were foster kids. Some were kids released to the group home after criminal activity. Some, like me, we just not having...
What a long weekend!

What a long weekend!

Finished the hippo bib yesterday! So happy.   I did make a few mistakes, but I know the person I am giving it too probably will not notice. For one, the blue bird on the top of the monkey’s head is supposed to have a lighter belly. I was engrossed in some TV show when I did that and didn’t realize until the next day that I messed it up. Also, the monkey’s mouth is supposed to be backstitched in 1 strand, and I used two. The last white stripe using the stem stitch also started out rocky because I was once again distracted. But, all in all it looks great. Can’t wait to attach some backing to it and put it away. I immediately jumped into the “May all of your days” WIP for my turtle trot. Just tried taking a photo of my progress, but of course my lame phone has to die. I’ve gotten half of the umbrella finished now – the lighter color, just started the darker blue for the umbrella. After that onto the roses and the backstitching. Can’t believe I have drug this kit around with me for over 15 years, and never finished it! Amazing. We did end up taking the drive over to my friends house for her birthday shindig. Had a ton of fun. We stayed a bit longer than we wanted to, but it was worth it! Although I was exhausted today. I broke my New Years resolution and purchased some more cross stitch-y stuff. But I have an excuse! JoAnn’s had an Ottlite set for only $99! For...
