Dance my tush off!

Dance my tush off!

My order of Just Dance 2015 came today! I’m so happy. We spent an hour and half playing this evening. So much fun, and oh boy did I sweat, haha. It’s freezing out. Already got a call from the kid’s school that there is a 2 hour delay tomorrow. So happy to be able to sleep in! Not so happy that the cold will possibly freeze a limb out. It’s about 0 out now… predictions are wind chills between -12 to -40 below. Worked hard the last two days. So much to do. Website due to launch on the 14th. Eeep! Got send over a million quick-fix small bug tickets today to clean up. Got through a lot, but most will need to be done tomorrow morning. Another bit of exciting news – I will be able to travel down to Virginia to meet my co-workers at the end of this month! I’ll be in VA for about 4 days. Too awesome. Can’t wait. Also spectacularly nervous. Watching American Horror Story with the husband right now. Eeesh. I’m not sure if I like or loathe this season. Some parts are amazing and super scary. Other’s are just cringe-worthy and dare I say… boring. I don’t know if they can ever top the first and second season, but they are trying hard with the shock value. Maybe the whole “freak show” concept isn’t my cup of tea. Although I do love Circus/Oddity stories. Last year I read both “Night Circus” (can’t remember the author off the top of my head) and “The Museum of Extraordinary Things” by Alice Hoffman- which...
Here we go again

Here we go again

So, another year gone by. Another sad attempt at keeping up with blogging and another miserable failure. And no, I haven’t returned because it’s my New Year’s resolution. I just have been thinking about it a lot lately. I always think back to my younger years when journaling and writing were such an outlet. Somewhere along the way life became too busy, I became too distracted; I just didn’t care to write anymore. I can’t believe I spent almost 5 years of my life writing just about daily, sometimes 3-4 times a day when on livejournal. I guess the community and friendships kept me involved, but livejournal is pretty much a graveyard these days. Or maybe I’m just too old. Hahaha. I do have some “resolutions” this year. More like life-style changes. I will definitely quit smoking again. And stay quit. I’m eating better (that started a while back). I’m not going to be a hermit anymore. If I have the opportunity to get out of the house (when I don’t have to work), I’ll take it. I’m going to craft a whole lot more. I’m going to get back into design work and pull my head out of so much dev work. I’m going to make a quilt this year. Me and Winter are going to start a blog. I’m going to get Mase into baseball. Going to get Zay into football. Sesaly into dance. I’m definitely going to read 50 books this year. When I’ll find the time to do all this, I don’t know. But I will be taking it one day at a time. I also...

Overdrawn!

What a week! I am so overworked and far behind I haven’t had time to stitch in the last 5-6 days! Had some good news come in which has taken up most of my time for the past few days. And of course, like I mentioned last week I took on a bunch of projects and overbooked myself once again. Which is cool, since they are pretty cool projects! It’s snowing once again here. Wasn’t the foot we got on Thursday enough 🙂 Had to get my twelve year old a new pair of boots today. I can’t believe he is a size 11! My husband is only a size 10.5 or 11. He’s going to be TALL. Poor kid. He had his Valentine’s Day dance on Friday and I got a text saying he was having an issue with his tooth about 30 minutes into it. So I go into the school and his tooth had fallen out! Poor kid. The rest of the family trudged across the street to eat dinner and about 20 minutes later I got a call that the poor kid had thrown up! What a bad time. He took it all in stride though. He was ok! Poor, poor Mason. Anyway, last time I got to stitch was Sunday or Monday of last week! I did get the February block completed, and finally received my DMC light effect white thread for the snow on the Jan block. I was trying to work on that when I gave up because that awful thread kept fraying, and wouldn’t thread onto the needle and I just...
Woodland Sampler Progress

Woodland Sampler Progress

Boy, I started writing this Monday night but never posted. I am just going to start over since it was mostly nonsense anyway. Yesterday was my husband’s birthday! Yay! We didn’t really do much we worked all day and then when he got home he wanted to work on his taxes. After that I started on dinner which ended up being a multicultural feast, haha. Homemade chili cheese fries, potato and cheddar pierogies and flounder with onions, shallots, mushrooms and teriyaki sauce. Was too filling. I’ve been able to get in anywhere from 2-4 hours of stitching a night – and even though all that time has been invested it doesn’t look like I got too far haha. I ordered a replacement thread for the original white (bright white) for the snow – so instead of bright white I’m using the dmc light effects white that is a sparkly type of white. Anyway, since my last post these are the photos of the end of each night’s work: I’ve been so entranced with this project I have neglected all my other WIPs. What little time I have I have been dedicating to this because I am having such a good time working on it! I had a nightmare last night about it though – I dreamt that I didn’t stitch February tight enough and all my stitches fell out. It was horrible. Eesh. I’ve planned on turning a portion of our bedroom into my “craft zone”. I need to get a table and some shelving units (or have the husband make some). I’m gonna place my sewing machine there...
My first try on linen!

My first try on linen!

Ok, so I had been DYING to try my hand at stitching on linen. I couldn’t wait! Wednesday night I finnnallly got my chance. It was a little rocky… I was so nervous. I think I got about 40ish stitches down before I couldn’t stay away any longer. Thursday, I ended up pulling out all my stitches from the night before, and redoing it because I had stitches wrong in two places. I restitched 64 stitches. Last night I stitched a ton. Not sure how many stitches, but I got SO much done, and it looks AWESOME. Omg, I swear, I never want to use aida again (unless it’s a kit, lol). It does take a bit more concentration, buuuuut, the result…:   This is the beginning (January) block for the Woodland Sampler by the Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery on 32 Count Vintage Country Mocha Belfast by Zweigart 2 over 2. This is probably going to be the brefiest post I’ve ever made since I want to jump back into stitching, but in other news I won over $380 on Thursday night when my husband and I hit the local “racino” on our date night. I was playing a silly Wheel of Fortune machine and just kept winning. I’m so happy. I now have an excuse to buy more supplies 🙂 Anyway, been working today and hanging with the kids, now it’s time to relax and work on my...
I am a moron

I am a moron

I can not believe what I did last night. My Charlie Brown piece is almost done. I needed to do Snoopy’s nose and then the back stitching for the grass and black around the characters… And of course after I placed my lap frame on the floor to get a drink I managed to knock my drink over as soon as I placed it on the stand next to my couch and it splashed ALL OVER the white aida. I sprayed it with stainer removed and washed it on delicate. It looks like it shrunk a bit, but it’s hard to tell I have to iron it out and put it back in the frame to finish off the final touches, but I am devastated. This was the piece before my idiocy occurred: I honest just want to die thinking about it. My husband saw the piece sitting out drying this morning and very nicely asked me, ooooph what happened? 🙁 On a happy note one of my packages arrived from 123stitch yesterday. My fabric for the Woodland Sampler arrived, as well as the threads! So, as soon as I get Charlie finished I’m going to start that. And then soon enough it will be time to start on the AAN Mystery Sampler (we get the patterns on the 10th of Feb!). I really hope my fabrics I ordered from Steph’s Fabby’s arrives by then. If not, oh well I still have some coming from Picture this Plus. We will have to see! Both of these projects will be my first on anything but aida, and I am SO...
