Here we go again

Here we go again

So, another year gone by. Another sad attempt at keeping up with blogging and another miserable failure. And no, I haven’t returned because it’s my New Year’s resolution. I just have been thinking about it a lot lately. Iย always think back to my younger years when journaling and writing were such an outlet. Somewhere along the way life became too busy, I became too distracted; I just didn’t care to write anymore. I can’t believe I spent almost 5 years of my life writing just about daily, sometimes 3-4 times a day when on livejournal. I guess the community and friendships kept me involved, but livejournal is pretty much a graveyard these days. Or maybe I’m just too old. Hahaha. I do have some “resolutions” this year. More like life-style changes. I will definitely quit smoking again. And stay quit. I’m eating better (that started a while back). I’m not going to be a hermit anymore. If I have the opportunity to get out of the house (when I don’t have to work), I’ll take it. I’m going to craft a whole lot more. I’m going to get back into design work and pull my head out of so much dev work. I’m going to make a quilt this year. Me and Winter are going to start a blog. I’m going to get Mase into baseball. Going to get Zay into football. Sesaly into dance. I’m definitely going to read 50 books this year. When I’ll find the time to do all this, I don’t know. But I will be taking it one day at a time. I also...

Overdrawn!

What a week! I am so overworked and far behind I haven’t had time to stitch in the last 5-6 days! Had some good news come in which has taken up most of my time for the past few days. And of course, like I mentioned last week I took on a bunch of projects and overbooked myself once again. Which is cool, since they are pretty cool projects! It’s snowing once again here. Wasn’t the foot we got on Thursday enough ๐Ÿ™‚ Had to get my twelve year old a new pair of boots today. I can’t believe he is a size 11! My husband is only a size 10.5 or 11. He’s going to be TALL. Poor kid. He had his Valentine’s Day dance on Friday and I got a text saying he was having an issue with his tooth about 30 minutes into it. So I go into the school and his tooth had fallen out! Poor kid. The rest of the family trudged across the street to eat dinner and about 20 minutes later I got a call that the poor kid had thrown up! What a bad time. He took it all in stride though. He was ok! Poor, poor Mason. Anyway, last time I got to stitch was Sunday or Monday of last week! I did get the February block completed, and finally received my DMC light effect white thread for the snow on the Jan block. I was trying to work on that when I gave up because that awful thread kept fraying, and wouldn’t thread onto the needle and I just...
January is so crazy

January is so crazy

Haven’t gotten much time to relax once again the past few days. Tuesday and Thursday were my oldest two kids birthdays, and then yesterday we had a combined birthday party for them, and their cousin, who’s birthday was Friday. It was nice. Aside from my brother and his fiance and their son and my parents it was just my family. No one wanted to travel after the nasty snow we had yesterday. And, of course it’s snowing like crazy again today. I made the kids a “camo” cake. I wish I remembered to take a picture of the finished product, but of course I never do… This is the best I got – the finished cake had bright purple icing with purple, black, green and white sprinkles and “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate icing: Still have my husband’s birthday on the 29th. It’s been a month packed with birthdays! Got a call yesterday for working on a new site for someone. It should be a fairly quick project- one page, basic informational site, no complicated design elements. Gonna try to set up a demo site this afternoon or evening. Also got two other projects I need to wrap up. Well, one to wrap- one to start. But the one I need to start on is also minimal work, so I’m not very worried. Hopefully I can get all the tasks for that project wrapped up by tomorrow evening. In other news I finally got around to going to the craft stored in the next big town over. I had wanted to go becaue I saw rumors on the forums...

Stitching Database, new start

So, in all my excitement of my son’s birthday and finishing off “May All Your Days”, I managed to get a ton of work done yesterday. Today though is a tad bit on the slow side. I have got to send out some emails, and check up on two “bugs” on some sites we are doing maintenance on to see if I can trouble shoot and fix. Tomorrow I’ve got a conference call for a new project kick off. Have two more projects starting by the end of the month as well. Hopefully I be able to budget my time correctly so I can have at least an hour or two each night to keep up on my new projects. AND, I also decided to go through my stash yesterday. I really wanted to kind of take note of what I have so I can decide on future projects – and also take inventory so I don’t purchase something I already have. So, my idea was to take photos of what I had so I could later on write down the kit/pattern names. Well, I am quite shocked at myself. I knew I had a ton of kits. I knew it. I was a little ashamed of it. What I didn’t realize who how deep my stash really was. I have over 155 items. Most are kits. ๐Ÿ˜ This isn’t even counting my magazine, fabrics and other stitch-y items. I’ll never in all my days be able to complete all of these! ๐Ÿ˜€ I sure can try though, can’t I? Hopefully one or both of my girls will be...
Happy 12th to my oldest AAAANNNDDDD Another Finish!

Happy 12th to my oldest AAAANNNDDDD Another Finish!

Today, my “baby” is 12 years old. I am out of my mind right now. 12 years ago on January 14th, 2002 my oldest son was born. All 8lbs 9oz of him. And today? He’s looks almost like a grown man. 5’6″, 150+lbs, mustache and beginning beard. I cannot believe this. My baby, who still calls me mommy, and ย who is one of my best friends, is almost a teenager. I cannot believe this. It’s unfathomable. The way time passes is something I cannot comprehend. ๐Ÿ™ I hope his day was wonderful and can’t wait for our entire family to gather for his (along with his sister and his cousin – three b-days in one week!) birthday party this weekend! And, in other news: After 14/15 years as a WIP to UFO to WIP to storage to WIP I finished “May Your Days”! I am so happy, and it looks even better than I imagined, even better than the little example photo shows on the package. Can’t wait to frame this. This is most definitely going somewhere in my home. There is so much emotion, time and history tied to this piece I could never give it away. This is literally the first “large” piece I worked on after graduated from little ornament sized items. I started this piece when I was 16 years old. Nearly 15 years ago now. At the time I lived in a group home with roughly 13/14 other kids from ages 11-17. Some were foster kids. Some were kids released to the group home after criminal activity. Some, like me, we just not having...

I thought weekends were for relaxing?

I feel like I have so much stuff to do, and I don’t know where to start. I don’t even know if I really have that much to do, I just can’t escape this feeling. We are supposed to go to my friend’s birthday part tonight. Blah. I want to go, don’t get me wrong, but it’s over an hour away and doesn’t start until late in the evening. My husband also tells me the roads are still icy, even though it got all the way up to 40 degrees (so far) today. Also, I don’t want to get around all my friends who smoke and feel tempted to do so as well. We will see. I still need to get to the craft stores at some point this weekend. Maybe tomorrow morning! Billy says he is hoping to be home by 4pm. I want to finish my bib, work on this site and pick up the house a bit. I really need to edit my posts pages to have a sidebar. The full width design is cool and all, but I want a sidebar to contain links, photos and some other info instead of this giant full width pages. Last night I got SO much done on the hippo bib. My daughter was modeling for me this morning ๐Ÿ™‚ Just a few more lines of the green grass at the bottom and I’ll be finished! I stitched so much last night with that horrible needle that came with the kit that I manage to rub my ring finger raw as well as the tip of my right thumb....
