Dance my tush off!

Dance my tush off!

My order of Just Dance 2015 came today! I’m so happy. We spent an hour and half playing this evening. So much fun, and oh boy did I sweat, haha. It’s freezing out. Already got a call from the kid’s school that there is a 2 hour delay tomorrow. So happy to be able to sleep in! Not so happy that the cold will possibly freeze a limb out. It’s about 0 out now… predictions are wind chills between -12 to -40 below. Worked hard the last two days. So much to do. Website due to launch on the 14th. Eeep! Got send over a million quick-fix small bug tickets today to clean up. Got through a lot, but most will need to be done tomorrow morning. Another bit of exciting news – I will be able to travel down to Virginia to meet my co-workers at the end of this month! I’ll be in VA for about 4 days. Too awesome. Can’t wait. Also spectacularly nervous. Watching American Horror Story with the husband right now. Eeesh. I’m not sure if I like or loathe this season. Some parts are amazing and super scary. Other’s are just cringe-worthy and dare I say… boring. I don’t know if they can ever top the first and second season, but they are trying hard with the shock value. Maybe the whole “freak show” concept isn’t my cup of tea. Although I do love Circus/Oddity stories. Last year I read both “Night Circus” (can’t remember the author off the top of my head) and “The Museum of Extraordinary Things” by Alice Hoffman- which...
Here we go again

Here we go again

So, another year gone by. Another sad attempt at keeping up with blogging and another miserable failure. And no, I haven’t returned because it’s my New Year’s resolution. I just have been thinking about it a lot lately. I always think back to my younger years when journaling and writing were such an outlet. Somewhere along the way life became too busy, I became too distracted; I just didn’t care to write anymore. I can’t believe I spent almost 5 years of my life writing just about daily, sometimes 3-4 times a day when on livejournal. I guess the community and friendships kept me involved, but livejournal is pretty much a graveyard these days. Or maybe I’m just too old. Hahaha. I do have some “resolutions” this year. More like life-style changes. I will definitely quit smoking again. And stay quit. I’m eating better (that started a while back). I’m not going to be a hermit anymore. If I have the opportunity to get out of the house (when I don’t have to work), I’ll take it. I’m going to craft a whole lot more. I’m going to get back into design work and pull my head out of so much dev work. I’m going to make a quilt this year. Me and Winter are going to start a blog. I’m going to get Mase into baseball. Going to get Zay into football. Sesaly into dance. I’m definitely going to read 50 books this year. When I’ll find the time to do all this, I don’t know. But I will be taking it one day at a time. I also...
What a long weekend!

What a long weekend!

Finished the hippo bib yesterday! So happy.   I did make a few mistakes, but I know the person I am giving it too probably will not notice. For one, the blue bird on the top of the monkey’s head is supposed to have a lighter belly. I was engrossed in some TV show when I did that and didn’t realize until the next day that I messed it up. Also, the monkey’s mouth is supposed to be backstitched in 1 strand, and I used two. The last white stripe using the stem stitch also started out rocky because I was once again distracted. But, all in all it looks great. Can’t wait to attach some backing to it and put it away. I immediately jumped into the “May all of your days” WIP for my turtle trot. Just tried taking a photo of my progress, but of course my lame phone has to die. I’ve gotten half of the umbrella finished now – the lighter color, just started the darker blue for the umbrella. After that onto the roses and the backstitching. Can’t believe I have drug this kit around with me for over 15 years, and never finished it! Amazing. We did end up taking the drive over to my friends house for her birthday shindig. Had a ton of fun. We stayed a bit longer than we wanted to, but it was worth it! Although I was exhausted today. I broke my New Years resolution and purchased some more cross stitch-y stuff. But I have an excuse! JoAnn’s had an Ottlite set for only $99! For...

Twitchy Eye

So, it’s not technically a work day, but I’ve been experiencing post-“work” side effects. It has been over 10 days since my eye started twitching. Not the corner of your eyelid twitch that goes away in a few minutes, which at this point I’d take and accept as some sort of blessing from above. At this point my right eye has been experiencing a recurrent “twitch”. I can see it in the mirror, but not every time. Sometimes it just feels like my eye is bubbling (like extra air). At this point I’m begging for it to stop! It doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t cause me interruptions in my work, but it is driving me crazy! Luckily I have a few friends in the  nursing profession who provided me with a few suggestions: Damp cold cloth – hold wet/damp cold cloth to closed eye for 30+ minutes No screen time – try not to engage in any screen time for 24 to 48 hours (tv, phone, computer, etc) Sleep – MOAR SLEEP. Dehydration – drink more water Stress – Ummm, relax? So, I did what I could to accomplish all the goals above, but unfortunately nothing has worked for me at this point. I’m not stresssed (emotionally or physicaly at this point). Cold compress, check! No screen time? Well this is my first extended time in 48 hours! So… winning? Ok, so not perfect, but better than 12+ hours a day, right? Sleep? Well, I get about 7-8+ a night so I’m not lacking there… Dehydration? I consume water like its going out of style, so that isn’t an issue either. Stress? Well, I have my days...
